Is Olive Oil Good For You?

IS OLIVE OIL GOOD FOR YOU?

The short answer is no.It's essentially empty calories which can make you gain weight.

We need to change the way we are accustomed to eating olive oil as the goodness from the whole olive is depleted and very few nutrients or vitamins remain intact during the pressing process while it becomes oil.

In fact, for every gallon of olive oil 38 pounds of olive skins, pulp and pits are left behind as waste product. In a time where we are collectively becoming more conscious about waste…we’re surprised this fact hasn’t got more attention.

The good news is that you will notice how great plant-based foods still taste without it, and know that your decision to reduce consumption is having a positive impact on both the environment and your weight.

If going cold turkey and cutting out olive oil altogether sounds too drastic, try using it the Mediterranean way at the very least. In Southern Europe they typically drizzle small amounts of olive oil over the top of foods that don’t already have other healthy fats in them (avocado, nuts, flaxseed etc.). Rather than coating and frying everything in it which results in eating many more calories than necessary... they use it sparingly.
